On February 12th, the school hosted its first annual “MORP” dance and it was a complete success!

About 400 students attended and about $1000 were raised making it possible for a scholarship to be given to a student at the awards ceremony in May.

The junior class purchased about 200 tickets making them the winners of the class contest and allowing them the privelage of a special dedication at the dance.

Mr. Daryl’s performance of pants on the ground was a highlight of the night.

“[The students] loved it! He got right in the middle of them and it was fun. He had a good time too.” said NHS sponsor Mrs. Stanley.

The response from the students has been very good. Freshmen Lea Whitely and Taylor Ramsey can’t wait for next years dance and had a blast this year.

There is one thing they would change though,

“Definately more people. They thought it would be boring but it was fun!” said Whitely.

Stanley is very happy with the outcome of the dance, “I think it went great for the first time we had ever done one.”

We can excpect another great dance from them next year. Stanley thinks that next year she will have a better idea of how to run a dance when that time comes and that making “MORP” the first dance of the year will draw a bigger crowd.

“We were supposed to be the first dance but it changed because of Homecoming. Next year when we have the first dance we will have better sales.”

This dance will be an annual event so, if you missed all the action this year there will always be next time!
