Television (TV) Productions is a very important class for schools to have. Not only does it teach students the basics to running a news channel, but it also provides important news to the whole school.
“It is important for all high schools to have a morning show because it gives the students updates and information,” senior Bridget Enstrom said.
Ed Kilpatrick is in charge of the class and responsible for producing the morning show every day.
Enstrom is the computer editor and is in charge of the announcement slide show and editing the show itself.
Junior Julynnet (July) Castro Morales is also an active member in the class. Morales was the anchor, director, and video editor.
However, there are many other jobs available to students, such as camera man, the anchor, sound editor, etc.
“This is my first year in the class,” Enstrom said. “I really wanted to take the class because I am interested in the whole news production world.”
Although it might only be Enstroms first year in the class, Morales began it three years ago and never left.
Enstrom said that timing is the hardest part of working on the morning show.
“If one person if off timing, then the whole show is behind,” Enstrom said.
Enstrom recomends this class to anyone interested in any technology feild, because the class focuses on more than just productions of the morning show.
“This class will teach students how a news team works together,” Enstrom said.
The class also get to attend exciting event, such as news conventions.
Morales has been to two conventions in her three years of participating on the morning show, and enjoyed being a part of both of them.
“Conventions are lots of fun and they always have interesting speakers,” Morales said.
Enstrom and Morales agree that the class is a very fun, but important one. They have both learned technological and important life skills in the class.
“The class has really taught me a lot,” Enstrom said. “Especially about time management.”
