On The Town: Citrus County Tractor Pull

Written by: Hunter McDaniel On The Town: Citrus County Tractor Pull thumbnail

From January 29-31 the Citrus County Fairgrounds held their 11th annual tractor pull. A tractor pull is when a motor vehicle pulls a weight transfer machine, called a sled, as far as possible down a dirt track.

“I love watching the tractor pull,” sophomore Taylor Hudson said. “My favorite part is watching the trucks.”

This year was sophomore Robbie Renaud’s first time attending a tractor pull.

“I have never been to anything like it,” Renaud said. “I went because it seemed kind of neat and a friend told me it was fun to watch. My favorite part was seeing how far they could pull the sled.”

There were all types of tractors, trucks and lawn mowers at the tractor pull.

“I really like to watch the old style tractors,” Hudson said. “The older they are the cooler I think it is.”

All sorts of people come down to the fair grounds to watch this annual event.

“It’s fun to see the way people are dressed,” Hudson said. “Some people are in tutus and others are in cowboy outfits.”

Renaud also enjoyed seeing the way people dressed during the pull.

“Some people were wearing the most interesting outfits,” he said.
